Science 8: Light and Optics
Topic 3f: investigating and interpreting emerging technologies
For images in a digital form
-additive primary colours
Description: When we look at an image in a magazine, on the computer, a print out or on video our brains see one picture made of solid colour. In reality the pictures are made up of many tiny dots that our eyes interpret as different colours. Modern imaging technologies use cyan, magenta and yellow to create these pictures. This interactive, internet activity allows students the opportunity to mix these colours to create new shades and to see what a close up look at the dots of colour look like.
Advanced preparation: Students should have an understanding of additive primary colours (ScienceFocus 8 pp.233). To do this activity you will need a colour monitor and internet access.
