Assignments

Your grade for this course will consist of two parts:

  1. Three laboratories (see the Labs section), each worth 15% for a total of 45%.
  2. A final cumulative paper worth 55% of your final mark. The paper is to be a proposal to (re)develop a course for synchronous distance delivery. The proposal should be aimed at senior administrators at an institution that you have worked for, studied at, or wish to work for. Assume that senior administrators in the institution may not be familiar with either the particular content of the course, or the particular group(s) of students that you wish to reach, therefore include this in your proposal. You should identify your potential student group, and why you believe that they will wish to take this course. Also identify the specific synchronous (and, if you wish, asynchronous) tools that you will use in the course and justify your choice of these tools as they fit with the curriculum you wish to deliver and the student group you are aiming the course at. Identify how these tools will specifically address the needs of the students and how they will allow you to offer all facets of the course -- remember, not every student will have the same requirements, hardware, software or learning styles, so be flexible. Include time and cost estimates for both the development and delivery of this course.
Note: Familiarize yourself with, the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (American Psychological Association, 2001) and use APA style and references for all of the work that you do in this course.
